Dr. Josh Barron currently serves as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Prior to this role, he worked 7 years as principal at Alan B. Shepard High School.
Dr. Barron served as a teacher at Washington High School (CPS) and Stagg High School (D230). As a result of successful teacher featured in U.S News and World Report for engaging students with technology in District 230, Dr. Barron was asked to lead as a school administrator in the division chair role working with multiple disciplines. Following his success with curriculum, assessment and instruction, he was asked to serve in a different role working with alternative education for the district. After a successful year in this position and some administrative changes in the district, Dr. Barron was asked to serve as associate principal for curriculum and instruction. In this role as associate principal, Dr. Barron accomplished meeting adequate yearly progress (AYP), leading school improvement initiatives, working with budgets and leading administrators. The years of experience as a teacher and administrator successfully prepared Dr. Barron for his next endeavor as principal.
Dr. Barron received his bachelor’s degree from Lewis University, his Master’s degree from St. Xavier University and his Ed. D from Northern Illinois University.
Dr. Barron teaches classes as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Francis. He is married and with three children.
